Midtown is Springfield’s largest national registered historic district and is made up of over 20 different subdivisions, with many of them being developed in 1886.   The neighborhood is bound by Historic Commercial Street on the North, National Avenue & the Railroad Line on the East, Chestnut on the South and Boonville on the West. Midtown has an annual Independence Day Parade and a Victorian Christmas Home Tour.  Public schools for the area include Central High School, Pipkin Middle School and Boyd Grade School. There several schools of higher education in the area; Drury University, Ozark Technical College & Cox College.
The area is known for great shops & restaurants on Historic Commercial Street, Washington Park, tree lined streets, and covered front porches.
